|
|
Hi everybody.
I am trying to install eventum 2.0.1 locally in my PC.
After installing all requirements (MySQL 5.0.37-community-nt, IIS, XP and
PHP 5) during installation an error box is shown in my installation start
page (above all setup details) saying "*Details:BLOB/TEXT column 'sup_to'
can't have a default value*".
Prior this installation, eventum 1.7.1 was installed correctly and did not
give any error.
This is a fresh install of 2.0.1, I assume this is a new column for the
2.0.1 install, but this error only create a few tables and do not continue.
Any ideas?
Should I use 1.7.1 for uprgrading to 2.0.1 or can I really make a fresh
install from this package (2.0.1)
Please advise..!
I really look forward to get an eventum 2 instance on production, but this
could not let me continue..!!

Hi,
Thank God! I am not alone! I am also precisely getting the same error but I should acknowledge that I have got quite a few postings trying to help me, in the last couple of days. Till now, I have not been able to successfully install Eventum 2.0.1. But 1.7.1 is installing and running fine with the same combination of Apache 2.2.4, MySQL 5.0.37-nt community edition and PHP 5.2.1 on Windows XP SP2.
One thing you could do is to tweak the schema.sql file under <eventum-2.0.1>/misc/setup dir. Just Remove "DEFAULT ''" at line 428. The setup would go through. But I am getting a blank page if I try to login (for the first time) with "admin (AT) example (DOT) com". Please try this and let me know if you are lucky. In the meantime, I shall also try various combinations.
I guess that this is an issue ocurring on Windows platform only. I will wait for the list users to confirm this.
Thanks and rgds,
Watson

Hi Jorge,
Thanks for your email. I guess I need to enable PHP error messages and dig in deeper, which, honestly, I hate to do. But I shall do it and announce if I am successful.
I am cc-ing this to the list so that we could probably get some help from somebody who might try something we haven't tried.
Thanks and rgds,
Watson

Hi wat...
Well, I think you have tried all possible combinations, 'cause, I did exactly what you did and I got the same result. After setup, which went through OK, and click the link the "successful" page shows, I get the blank page too.
No login page to start up, so I burnned this one ... I have tried other options but with no result.
If you have completed this procedure, pls let me know..!

Jorge

Hi all,
A Million Thanks to Gaetano Giunta for providing the "breakthrough" tip!!
I feel the Eventum Wiki needs to be updated with the following info ASAP!!
1. The SQL Mode should NOT have "STRICT_TRANS_TABLE". This is set by default.
I changed it through the MySQL Administrator GUI and restarted the MySQL
Service. The "SQL Mode" setting is under "Advanced" tab for "Startup
Variables", in the MySQL Administrator GUI.
2. PHP should have the "Gettext" extension enabled in addition to the "GD"
and "MySQL", without which, although the Setup goes through fine, we
would still get a blank page while trying to do the first login.
Now, I am able run both 1.7.1 and 2.0.1 on my laptop!!
Thanks and rgds,
Watson

A little bit offtopic, but I think this has to do with the "stricter" mode mysql 5 runs under by default.
This means blob/text fields can have no default value.
Tweaking the schema creation script (removing the offending "default ''" ) is sadly not enough, as in some cases the code is likely to insert a new row into the table will rely on the fact that the given column has a default value, and omit it, eg.
tb1 = table (name varchar(20), address text) insert into tb1 values ('hello') => ERROR!!!
This is happening in drupal too, and the devs seem loath to fix it, suggesting instead to change the mysql installation parameters to run in 'compatibility mode' or something like that. Maybe you can try that out...
Bye
Gaetano

Attached a: a slightly modified version of process mail queue.php
It allows the max number of emails to be sent to be set on the command line
It is quite unfinished: eg parsing of cmd line arguments has to be done for cli. Is there any lib / std way of processing those in eventum or shall I 'just do it' however I can?
I think some other options that would be nice to have available to the script:
- max memory limit
- total script timeout
- socket timeouts for mail sending
If there is any interest, let me know
