Hi,

I'm currently trying to switch from 5.0.27 to the latest version of
MySQL (community : 5.0.37 / enterprise : 5.0.40).
With those two versions, after the mysql launch, the server just seems
to freeze.
When it doesn't freeze immediately, some processes seems to be stuck in
the "cleaning up" state.

e.g. :

| 61 | bestofchat | localhost | mutu_bestofchat | Init DB | 12 |
cleaning up | NULL |
| 63 | bestofchat | localhost | mutu_bestofchat | Sleep | 12 |
| NULL |
| 77 | bestofchat | localhost | mutu_bestofchat | Init DB | 12 |
cleaning up | NULL |

When it freezes I can't even launch the mysql client. (and if I'm inside
the mysql client, ctrl+c doesn't work anymore as well).
I've noticed the size of tar.gz is much larger than for the 5.0.27
release. Does this mean the 5.0.37 is now a MAX version ?

Note I've tried both Linux (x86) and Linux (x86) (non RPM, Intel C/C++
compiled, glibc-2.3) with the same result.

Do you have any idea of what change (either in the build process or in
the code) could explain this annoying behaviour ?

Thanks,
Jocelyn

I haven't seen this. What are the threads doing, if you look at it
in GDB?

Let's start a bug report on this, when you have more information. We
needn't discuss it on internals@ unless you think it's too important.

The client too? Bizarre. Let's start with the assumption that it's
a separate problem, so that we don't miss something.

Sorry, I don't know. I'll leave that for someone else to answer.

According to someone on our build team, "we failed to include the
debug binary earlier."

I've just opened http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=28210 to cover this issue.

Thanks,
